Lift off for Strictly tour
Caroline Flack proves her win was not a fluke
Weeks after scooping the coveted Glitterball trophy, the 2014 series winner continued to impress the judges at Birmingham’s Barclaycard Arena.
Despite feeling unwell earlier in the week, the 35-year-old TV presenter rose to the occasion, taking part in a daring lift at the hands of professional dancers Kevin Clifton and Trent Whiddon.
There had been fears the dancing queen would have to pull out of Friday’s opening night show after falling ill and missing Thursday’s rehearsals.
She was back on top form as belle of the ball this weekend, however, along with her fellow celebrity contestants and ballroom professionals.
Proving that the costume department loses none of its sparkle when the BBC show goes on the road, DJ Scott Mills appeared dressed as a lobster alongside his dancing partner Joanne Clifton, who donned a scarlet wig.

It was almost like I put a year’s worth of all of these emotions into a minute and a half dance
Another lady in red was Iveta Lukosiute, who looked stunning in a 1950s-style frilly prom dress as she was held aloft by strapping rugby player Thom Evans, dressed as a sailor.
Although she usually reserves her talents for presenting the show, even host Zoe Ball was unable to resist throwing a few shapes on the dancefloor.
Also new to the line-up is S Club 7 star Rachel Stevens, who replaced Frankie Bridge when The Saturdays singer pulled out after announcing her second pregnancy.
Earlier last week Caroline told how her Strictly win had helped her cope with the heartbreak of splitting from her boyfriend of 18 months, Jack Street.
“It was almost like I put a year’s worth of all of these emotions into a minute and a half dance,”
she said during an appearance on TV’s Loose Women. “It was so therapeutic it was kind of a way for me to be like ‘Hey, this is how I feel’ without having to say anything.”
